How Gatherly lists places
Gatherly’s discover pages list things to do near you: events, markets, seasonal places and the spots people report on the map. This page explains where those listings come from, what their labels mean, and how to fix one that is wrong.
Where listings come from
- Official sources — parks departments, agencies and the bodies that run a place or a season.
- Organisers’ and venues’ own websites and published schedules.
- Public datasets, such as open city and county data.
- Neighbours’ reports in the Gatherly app — updates and photos from people who were there.
Every line is sourced and dated
Every factual line on a discover page is traced to the source it came from, and carries the date that source last said it. Where we can, the source is named and linked beside the line. A line we cannot trace to a source is not published.
What the labels mean
- Open now
- Inside its published hours at the moment you load the page.
- On today
- It has a published date or opening today.
- In season
- Inside its published season, even if it is closed at this hour.
- Coming up
- Its next published date or season has not started yet.
- Ended Oct 12
- Its last published date (here, October 12) has passed. We keep the listing and say when it ended.
- Dates not confirmed
- A source mentions it, but we could not confirm the dates from the organiser's or venue's own page.
- Not confirmed by the organiser
- A detail (hours, a date, a price) comes from a secondary source, not from the organiser.
How often pages update
A page is rebuilt when its sources change, at most once a day. “Open now” is the exception: it is worked out live from the published hours each time the page loads, so it is never a day old.
No paid placements
Listings are never paid placements. No one can pay to be listed, to be listed higher, or to be chosen as a top pick.
How to correct a listing
- Open the place on the live map and tap Add update to report what you see there now, or use the … menu and Report content to flag something wrong for review.
- If you added the spot yourself, you can edit it from its page.
- Own or run the place? Tap Own or manage this place? on its page to claim the listing; once it is yours you can edit its details, hours and posts.
- Or email gatherly-support@vohulabs.com with the page and what is wrong (more on the support page).
